About
Tim aka “Teal” (they/he) is an interdisciplinary urban researcher, strategist, designer, and artist with a focus on urban systems and spatial design, specializing in cultural work, environmental justice, public space, social impact, and storytelling.
His background in theatre design and interactive sculpture combined with his lifelong passion for ecology led him to study at Parsons School of Design at The New School, where his thesis explored the sustainability and equity of New York City’s waste management system and investigated grassroots composting solutions. He has since worked for and with organizations at the cutting edge of local and national conversations around redlining and racial segregation, urban gardening and land use, and healing our national legacy of inequality.
Tim is a NYC Master Composter trained at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and loves talking about compost, permaculture, speculative fiction, and the power of story to shape our world.
